What Compounding SEO Looks Like After 90 Days
Last updated: September 7, 2026
Compounding SEO means each month of work builds on the last instead of resetting the day you stop paying for it. Two client accounts show the pattern clearly. Mr Green Turf Clean, a Poway-based turf cleaning company, went from 0 to 451 search impressions and took the #1 organic spot for 'turf cleaning san diego' inside three months, plus 130 Google Business Profile impressions from a cold start. Integrity Pro Washers, a pressure washing company in North Park, hit 167 search impressions and 81 GBP impressions in month one, while we cut their homepage Largest Contentful Paint from 18.1 seconds down to 8.9 seconds. Neither client spent a dollar on ads. Both are still climbing.
Month One: The Quiet Part Nobody Likes
Month one looks slow because it is slow. Google needs to crawl the new pages, index them, and decide how much to trust them. For Integrity Pro, that meant watching impressions crawl from single digits to double digits over four weeks while we fixed the technical debt underneath the content. The LCP problem was a hero video autoplaying above the fold on a 4G connection. We swapped it for a compressed WebP image with a preload tag and moved the video below the fold. That one change accounted for roughly half the LCP gain.
Mr Green's month one was even quieter. Zero impressions, zero clicks, for the first two and a half weeks. We kept publishing anyway.
Month Two: Positions Start Moving
This is where the account either breaks open or stalls. Mr Green's turf cleaning pages started showing up for hyperlocal queries tied to Poway and Rancho Bernardo before they ever cracked page one for the head term. By week seven, 'turf cleaning san diego' moved from unranked to position 14. Fourteen isn't a win by itself. It's the signal that the page has enough authority to keep climbing without new content.
Month Three: The Compounding Shows Up
Position 14 became position 1 over the following five weeks, and impressions jumped from roughly 60 a week to 451 total. That's the compounding part. The same content, the same backlinks, and the same GBP posts kept working without us touching them again. A campaign built on ad spend does the opposite: turn off the budget and the calls stop that day.
How much does SEO cost in San Diego?
Most San Diego agencies price local SEO between $800 and $3,000 a month depending on how many locations and service pages you need. Our packages run in that range too, detailed on our services and pricing page. The honest answer on timeline: budget for three months minimum before you see the kind of jump Mr Green saw, and six months before it's fully compounding. Anyone promising page one in two weeks is either lying or ranking you for a keyword nobody searches.

We wrote more about the mechanics of this in Building an SEO Engine That Runs While You Work. If you want the raw numbers behind these two accounts, the full breakdowns are on the Mr Green case study and the Integrity Pro case study, and the running results log lives on our results page.
Ninety days is the number we tell clients to plan around. Some accounts move faster. None of the ones that stuck with it moved slower.
