Does page speed matter for a pressure washing website?
Yes, but mostly as a floor. A page that takes 18 seconds to show its main content loses visitors before any ranking signal matters, and Google measures that delay as Largest Contentful Paint. Google treats 2.5 seconds or less as good. A pressure washing site full of before-and-after photos is usually slow because of image weight. Fixing speed will not rank a site alone, but a slow site wastes the traffic the rest of the work earns.
The starting point
Integrity Pro Washers serves the North Park area of San Diego. When we took the site on, LCP measured 18.1 seconds on mobile.
That is not a rounding error. That is a homeowner standing in a driveway looking at a blank screen.
What changed in month one
Month one ended with LCP at 8.9 seconds, 81 Google Business Profile impressions, and 167 search impressions. Those four numbers moved in the same window.
I cannot tell you the speed work caused the impressions. Indexing, new pages and the profile setup were all happening at once, and I will not pretend to separate them. What I can say is that nothing in the data suggests the speed work hurt.
Where I look first on a pressure washing site
The checklist is short, and most of it is about photos.
- The hero image: oversized files served to a phone are the most common cause of a bad LCP.
- Before-and-after galleries loaded all at once instead of as the visitor scrolls.
- Third-party widgets, chat tools and review embeds that block the main content.
- Web fonts loaded late, so text sits invisible while the page waits.
Why 8.9 seconds is not the finish line
We cut the number roughly in half. It is still more than three times Google's good threshold of 2.5 seconds.
I would rather say that plainly than call 8.9 seconds a win. It was progress on a site that started in bad shape, and the remaining work is the harder part: the last seconds usually come from hosting and script decisions, not image compression.
What this means for your own site
Run your homepage through PageSpeed Insights on mobile, not desktop, and read the LCP number first. If it is above 4 seconds, fix that before you pay for more content.
If you want the full picture of how speed fits with the rest of the work, the pressure washing SEO page shows what we cover, and the month-one case study has the impression data in detail. The sequence we follow is on the how it works page.
