Why do contractor Google Business Profiles get suspended?
Contractor profiles are most often suspended because Google cannot confirm the business is real, licensed and located where the profile says. Common triggers include a service area business that shows a home address, a change to the business name or category, a new website link, or edits made soon after verification. Suspensions are usually reviewed on documents, so the fastest fix is having proof of license, insurance and tax identity ready before you need it.
What happened to Arcadian Landscape
Arcadian Landscape is an established Encinitas landscape contractor. Their profile was suspended on May 19, 2026. It was reinstated on May 21, in under 24 hours of our submission.
The business had done nothing unusual. That is the part owners find hard to accept.
We submitted three items together: a CSLB license lookup, an ACORD 25 certificate of insurance, and an IRS CP-575 letter. Each answers a different question. The license says the trade is legal, the insurance says the business is operating, and the CP-575 ties the name to a tax identity.
Which documents should every contractor keep on file?
- Your current CSLB license number and a saved lookup page showing active status.
- A recent ACORD 25 certificate of insurance with the exact business name.
- Your IRS CP-575 or other EIN confirmation letter.
- A photo of your truck or signage showing the business name.
- A utility bill or lease that matches your address.
Names must match across all of them. I have seen a delay caused by one document saying LLC and another leaving it off.
How do you avoid triggering a suspension?
Make fewer edits, and make them one at a time. Changing the name, category and address on the same day looks like a different business to a reviewer.
Hide your home address if you serve customers at their location. Set service areas to cities you actually cover; our write-up on service area settings for North County contractors covers what to set and what to leave alone.
And keep one person in charge of the login. Profiles managed by an old web designer, a cousin and the owner at once are the ones I see flagged.
What if the profile is already suspended?
Do not create a duplicate profile. That is the most common mistake, and it can turn a fixable review into a longer one. Gather the documents above, check that the name matches everywhere, and submit the appeal with all of them at once.
Reinstatement is part of the work we do. The details sit on our GBP suspension page, and the day by day account is in the Arcadian reinstatement write-up.
One caution. No document package guarantees an outcome, and I will not tell you it does. Arcadian worked in under a day because the business was real and the paperwork was clean.
